Department of Park & Recreation’s Annual Easter Egg Party

On Saturday, March 15th the Easter Bunny was on hand at Watson Park to oversee an Easter Egg Hunt for kids ages 2 to 10. Approximately 3,000 participated in this annual event that was held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.

Clowns entertained kids by making creatures out of balloons. The Home Depot Inc., west location, donated 100 sail boat kits and had volunteers assist the children in making the boats. Kids enjoyed having their picture taken with the Easter Bunny and hunting for eggs stuffed with candy. Children bounced on the moonwalks, played games, participated in the Jelly Bean Guessing Contest, won prizes and took part in many other free activities. Sacks of candy with a FREE ticket for a train ride through the park were also distributed. Many stayed after the Party to ride the train on the new train route, play miniature golf, enjoy the pony rides and paddle boats.

Saturday, March 15th also was the beginning of Watson Park’s spring hours of operation. The Park is now open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Paddle boats, train, pony rides and miniature golf will be operated Monday thru Friday 4:00 p.m. until dark. On Saturdays and Sundays all rides will operate noon – 8:00 p.m. Watson Park is located at 3022 S. McLean Blvd. Call 529-9940 for more information.
